Confluence: The Vth Annual International Conference on Teaching and Learning English as a Second/Foreign Language

Confluence V will be held on February 21-22, 2014. As always, the thrust area will be Teaching and Learning English as a Second / Foreign Language. The focus is on teaching of ESL / EFL. It stems from the need for teachers of to adopt innovative & inspiring methods to facilitate learning.

The idea of the conference is urgent and up to date. The need for a unifying global language keeps getting increasingly imposing. Globalization has dramatically and exponentially increased worldwide demand for English speakers and teachers. Today, almost every career requires a sound knowledge of English for advancement at professional and personal / social levels.

Confluence 2014 will be held at the TGP College of Engineering premises at Nagpur, India. Also known as The Gateway to Tiger Country, Nagpur is well respected for its strong academic focus.

Confluence V will be graced by eminent academicians. We have confirmation from Prof. Mick King of Exeter University, UK, Dr. Songsri Soranastaporn of Mahidol University, Thailand, Prof. Mustapha Ahmad Isa of Bayero University, Nigeria and Dr. Ishrat Suri of Dar-al-Hekma College, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The conference is the most popular event of its kind in Central India. Confluence serves as a platform for dialogue and debate with researchers and theorists on one hand and ESL / EFL teachers and learners, on the other. Each year, the response to Confluence has been growing, the last count being nearly 500 delegates at Confluence IV. It has served as an excellent meeting place for students and teachers alike and has allowed participants to gain from each others’ experience and expertise.
